Term 2

What a busy term 1 was and
we look forward to Term 2!

Look at the picture below and see if you can work out what we will be studying this term.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday 5th of May,
ready to learn at 8.55 am.

Week 12

ANZAC WEEK

We have had an awesome week learning about some significant historical events.

The trip to the archives was very informative and we all learnt lots about World War One and about what the New Zealand and Australian Soldiers experienced  when they landed at ANZAC Cove on the Gallipoli Peninsula.

We also learnt a well known World War One Poem

In Flanders Fields

Flanders Poppy on the First World War battlefields.
by John McCrae, May 1915
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

We said this at our reflection assembly.

During the week we also painted some ANZAC Soldiers.
